What is an SEO checker?

An SEO checker is a tool that inspects a single web page and grades how well it is built to rank for a query. It reads what a crawler reads: the title tag, the meta description, the heading structure, the body text and the links leaving the page. Then it turns that into a score and a list of problems, ordered so you know what to change first. The distinction with a site audit matters. An audit sweeps every URL and looks at servers, indexing and site architecture. A checker looks at one page and answers a narrower question: is this page good enough to compete for the keyword you wrote it for, and if not, what exactly is missing.

What the checker looks at

Six on-page signals, each scored separately so a good total never hides a broken part.

Title, meta and headings

Length and relevance of the title tag, phrasing of the meta description, and whether the H1 to H3 hierarchy actually describes the page. The first things a search engine reads, and the ones most often left on CMS autopilot.

Keyword coverage

The terms your page covers, and the ones the ranking pages cover but you do not. This is usually where a page loses: no penalty, just a subject treated less completely than the competition treats it.

Keyword density

How often your main term and its variants appear. Too rare and the page reads as off topic, too frequent and it reads as stuffed. You get the number and where it sits relative to pages that rank.

Readability and structure

Sentence length, paragraph breaks, lists and subheadings. A page that is hard to read loses the visitor before the ranking ever matters, and search engines have plenty of signals telling them so.

Internal links

The links leaving the page and the anchor text they use. Orphans and dead ends waste authority you already paid for, which makes this the cheapest gain most sites never collect.

Score against the top results

Your total placed next to the pages already ranking for your target keyword. A score of 68 is good news or bad news depending entirely on what the competition scores.

How to read your score

The number is a summary, not a verdict. What matters is which band you land in and what that band implies about your next move.

0 to 49

Structural work needed

Something basic is missing: no real title strategy, a thin body, headings that repeat instead of structuring. Rewriting the page is usually faster than patching it, and the gain is the largest of the three bands.

50 to 79

Close, but incomplete

The page is a legitimate candidate that treats its subject partially. Fill the missing keyword coverage, tighten the title, add the internal links that are absent, and this is where most pages move from page two to page one.

80 to 100

On-page is not your problem

If the page still does not rank at this level, the answer is off the page: authority, freshness, search intent mismatch, or a result type Google prefers for that query. Stop editing the copy and look at the SERP.

How to run the check

Three steps, no technical knowledge, nothing added to your server.

1

Paste the page address

One URL is enough. Any public page works: an article, a product page, a service page, a homepage. You do not need to own the site to run a check on it.

2

BotSEO reads the page

The crawler fetches the live version of the page, not a cached copy, and parses tags, content, semantics and links. This takes a few minutes, not a scheduled report you receive tomorrow.

3

Read the score and the fixes

You get the total, the detail per criterion, and a list of edits phrased as actions rather than jargon. Each item says what to change and why it costs you something today.

Page checker or full audit

Both exist for a reason, and the mistake is running the wrong one. Start here, escalate when the answer is not on the page.

The checker, fast and focused

One URL at a time, a result in minutes, and a report written for editing rather than for filing. It is the loop you run while writing: check, edit, check again. Use it when you are working a specific page and want to know whether it is good enough, before or after publishing. The first pass is free and needs no account.

The audit, complete and strategic

Every page crawled and scored by category, with findings ranked by impact rather than listed alphabetically. Use it when the question is about the site rather than the page: indexing, Core Web Vitals, redirect chains, link architecture, positions and whether AI engines cite you. It produces a prioritized plan instead of a page edit, which is what you want before a redesign or a migration.

Run the full site audit

From the score to the corrected page

Knowing what is wrong is half a solution. The BotSEO agents take the findings from the check and produce the edit itself, working against your real Search Console data rather than a generic template. Three cases cover most of what comes back from a check.

  1. 1The checker flags a thin section: the agent rewrites it so it covers the terms the ranking pages cover, without stuffing them in.
  2. 2The title is too long or off target: you get a replacement that fits the pixel limit and is written to be clicked, not just to contain the keyword.
  3. 3The page links nowhere: the agent proposes internal links drawn from your actual site structure, then a second check confirms the score moved.

Free to check, paid to keep going

The first check costs nothing and is a real check, not a preview with the numbers blurred out. A subscription is what you take when one page becomes fifty, when you want the checks to run on a schedule and the agents to write the fixes instead of listing them.

Questions about SEO checkers

Is the SEO checker really free?

The first check is free, with no card and no installation, and it returns the full score with the detail per criterion and the recommendations. What sits behind the paid plans is continuity: checking many pages, rerunning them on a schedule, tracking whether the score moved, and having the agents write the corrections rather than list them.

Can I check a competitor's page?

Yes. The checker only needs a public URL, so any page you can open in a browser can be scored. Running your page and the page above you through the same check is the fastest way to see what they cover and you do not, which is far more useful than a generic best practices list.

Does a good score guarantee a first-page ranking?

No, and any tool that says otherwise is selling you something. On-page quality is the part you control completely, so it is the right place to start. Rankings also depend on the authority of your domain, how competitive the query is, how fresh the results need to be, and whether Google favors a different content format for that search entirely.

Do I need Search Console connected?

Not to run a check. The crawler works from the live page alone. Connecting Search Console changes what happens afterward: the tool then knows which queries the page already receives impressions for, which turns a generic recommendation into a decision about the keyword you are actually close to winning.

How often should I recheck a page?

After every meaningful edit, and then again around six weeks later once search engines have recrawled and rankings have settled. Rechecking daily tells you nothing, because the score reflects what you published, and what you published has not changed since yesterday.
